Also, presented by Wakeman Town Farm’s Jr. Appretices, a hands-on workshop/exhibit/demonstration showcases a few of the homesteading/sustainabiity skills that the Jr. Apprentices at Wakeman Town Farm are learning. Hands-on participation and a Q&A sessions include how to raise/tend backyard chickens, how to start seedlings and how to make compost.
The Wakeman Town Farm Sustainability Center is an organic demonstration homestead open to the public. The Farm is a model facility created to educate the community with local healthy food production, responsible land stewardship, sustainable practices and community service orientation. Activities include educational workshops, student internships, hosting after school environmental clubs, children’s summer camp programs, growing fruits and vegetables, animal husbandry, providing a farm stand and CSA pickup location.
